Samutprakarn Crocodile Farm and Zoo
Samutprakarn Crocodile Farm and Zoo was founded in 1950 by Mr. Utai Youngprapakorn. It is also the world’s first, largest and most progressive crocodile breeding farm. It is situated at Tambon Tai Ban, 3 km from Samut Prakan town, 10 km from Bangkok. The farm has over 80,000 crocodiles with different sizes from less than one foot to 6 meters long. There are 5,000 of giant crocodiles, which are 5 – 6 meters long. The farm has a hybrid crocodile of the saltwater and the freshwater, called “Chao Yai”. Chao Yai is the world’s largest crocodile, and certified by the Guinness Book of Records as having the length of 6 meters, the weight of 1,114.27 kgs. |
